Since the Hollywood sign was erected in 1923, it has become a California icon representing hope and dreams. When Los Angeles Times publisher Harry Chandler built the sign to advertise his upscale Hollywoodland real estate development, no one knew it would grow to be the primary symbol for the entertainment industry. Visitors can see the Hollywood sign, as well as other sites and landmarks where Hollywood was born, in their new Running for the Hollywood Hills guided running tour. A private running guide to show you the sites, and take you on this 5 mile tour at your own comfortable pace. Stops along the way include old Hollywood Homes, the Hollywood Sign, and panoramic views. Don't forget your camera. The Running for the Hollywood Hills tour is offered on Sunday mornings at 6;00am and again at 9am. Wednesday mornings offered at either 6:00am or 7:00am. "I guess we would like to say we felt it was a great way to tour and see some of Beverly Hills along with the added excitement of possibly seeing some famous people. This was a gift from our son and his family as he knows we like to run and knows we are always looking for a new adventure and challenge. It was a special treat to meet Cheryl, who did an excellent job by keeping the pace at a level where we could enjoy the local sights and still breath, important for people of our age. Our daughter Mary, who lives in Hawaii, was able to come over and join us on this fun tour. We all enjoyed it, as not only did we get to be guided to some of the great spots to possibly see some "stars" but we got to enjoy the sport of running at the same time."
